Biographical details

Associate Professor David Templeton is a Sexual Health Physician and medical epidemiologist who has been specialising in management of HIV and other STIs for over 15 years. He holds appointments as Manager and Senior Staff Specialist at RPA Sexual Health, based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney's inner west and Senior Lecturer at the Kirby Institute, UNSW. Associate Professor Templeton completed his PhD in 2008 on HIV &Sexually Transmissible Infection epidemiology in a large community-based cohort study of Australian gay men - the Health in Men (HIM) study.

Research interests

  • Associate Professor Templeton's research interests focus on HIV and STI epidemiology, prevention of HIV, and improving the health of those living with HIV. He wasMember of the Australian Antiretroviral Guidelines Panel from 2011to 2013, and iscurrently a member of the Steering Committeeand Principle site investigator of theAustralian HIV Observational Database and a member of the NSW HIV Pre-exposure prophylaxis implementation committee.His current research focus is the Study for the Prevention of Anal cancer (SPANC) investigating the natural history of anal human papillomavirus infection and pre-cancerous anal lesions in gay men in an effort to prevent anal cancer in this population.
