Professor Farhat Yusuf has a first class BSc (Hons.) and MA in Statistics from the University of Punjab (Pakistan) and PhD in Demography from the Australian National University.
Before joining the University of Sydney he was a Professor of Business and Demography at Macquarie University, Sydney. During his tenure at Macquarie he held many important positions such as Head of the then Department of Business (now Department of Marketing and Management) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (2003-2006), and was an elected member of the Academic Senate for six years (2003-2009). In 2011, Macquarie University conferred on him the title of Emeritus Professor.
He also held visiting appointments in prestigious institutions such as Princeton and Cornell universities in USA, City and Southampton universities in UK and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. [Hide detail]
United States. (University of California Riverside and the University of Omaha at Nebraska) Professor David Swanson of the Department of Sociology has been collaborating with me on research in Applied Demography. We are also involved in writing two books on Consumer Demographics and Methods of Demographic Analaysis.
Another collaborator is Professor Lou Pol, Dean of the College of Business Adminstation at the University of Omaha. Lou, David and I are co-editors of the forthcoming International Handbook on Applied Demography. All of these books will be published by Springer between 2011 and 2013..
