Biographical details

Dr Josephine Chau is an early career researcher in physical activity and sedentary behaviour at the Prevention Research Collaboration in the School of Public Health, University of Sydney. She currently holds a Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship (2015-2017) and co-chairs the Healthier Workplace Project Node at the Charles Perkins Centre.

Jo has worked in the field of physical activity and health for over ten years. Her areas of expertise include sedentary behaviour epidemiology, measurement and intervention; workplace health promotion; and program evaluation.

Research interests

Physical activity and sedentary behaviour in adults.

Main interests include:

  • Workplace "move more, sit less" interventions for promoting activity and reducing sitting time;
  • Measurement of physical activity and sedentary behaviour;
  • Epidemiological research looking at associations of physical activity and sedentary behaviour with health risks and outcomes;
  • Social marketing and mass media campaigns related to physical activity.
