Biographical details

Josh is a postdoctoral research fellow at Musculoskeletal Health Sydney, a division of the School of Public Health, University of Sydney. He also works as a physiotherapist in a private practice and has experience working with a number of semi-professional football teams.

Research interests

Josh completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The University of Sydney, and has published numerous projects where data from identical twins was used to better understand how genetics and other shared familial factors influence the risk of developing low back, the recovery from low back pain, and the response to increased physical activity. In particular, his PhD research focused on understanding the relationship between physical activity and low back pain.

Teaching and supervision

Josh has worked as a postgraduate teaching fellow at the Discipline of Physiotherapy, The University of Sydney. He has experience teaching in foundation, musculoskeletal and advanced units of study for both undergraduate and graduate entry masters students.

Current projects

Josh is currently working on projects aimed at reducing over diagnosis and overtreatment in allied health as part of Sydney School of Public Health. In particular, he is interested in evaluating the impact recently published Choosing Wisely recommendations have on reducing unnecessary physiotherapy care.
