Biographical details

Lisa Simmons is a general cardiologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with a particular interest in echocardiography for structural heart disease. Lisa has been involved with the TAVI and Mitraclip programs at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.
Lisa Simmons has expertise in managing maternal cardiovascular disease in pregnancy. Lisa Simmons was trained at the Alfred Hospital Melbourne, obtained the DDU in echocardiography, completed a PhD investigating the cardiovascular adaptation to pregnancy at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and completed further post-doctoral training in echocardiography at KU Leuven, Belgium. Lisa Simmons is an examiner for the DDU in echocardiography.

Teaching and supervision

Echocardiography Teaching in the Cardiovascular Block for USyd medical students and echocardiography for the basic trainees. Supervisor for advanced trainees for the DDU and DDU examiner.

Current projects

Echocardiography provision for first in man trials at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital of Twelve percutaneous mitral valve replacement and Pascal percutaneous mitral valve clip. One of the chief investigators for the Heart Foundation CVRN Research Grant AMOSS longitudinal study of first-time NSW and ACT mothers with heart disease and their babies.
