Biographical details

Dr Naj Soomro is a physician with a research interest in Sports Medicine, Rural Health and Medical Technology. After finishing his MBBS he did a Masters in International Public Health (Major: Injury Prevention) from The University of Sydney. He has received several international scholarships and has collaborations with several sporting organisations including Cricket Australia and FIFA.

His PhD investigated Cricket injury epidemiology in Australia and developed an injury prevention program for cricketers which was a collaborative research project between Cricket Australia, Cricket New South Wales and The University of Sydney. He was also an organising member of Cricket World Cup 2015 conference.

Dr Soomro's current role is more focused on rural, remote health issues and medical education. He is currently workign on the geospatial analysis for lead toxicity in Broken Hill and evaluating inter-professional education based simulations.

When not working, he spends time playing competitive cricket and travelling.
