MicroRNAs are a large family of small non-coding RNA sequences which modulate post-transcriptional gene expression. There are currently 900 human miRNAs which have the potential to regulate at least 40% to 60% of all human genes. This profound impact heralds miRNAs as key regulators in many human diseases. In recent years, many studies have shown the dysregulation of miRNAs in many different human cancers. We are interested in the mechanism controlling miRNAs expression and how these miRNA expression signatures can be used as diagnostic tools in prostate cancer and head and neck cancer.
