Research interests

My laboratory is interested in the cellular mechanisms underlying sunlight-induced immune suppression and tolerance. Specifically, we are exploring how ultraviolet radiation from the sun causes skin cancer by activating regulatory cells and suppressing the anti-tumour immune response. The cell to cell interaction and migration of mast cell and B lymphocytes are what we are currently focused on.

Current and future research endeavours include investigating the role of regulatory cells and mast cells in autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes as well as dermatology related disorders such as polymorphic light eruption (PLE) and contact dermatitis.
