Research interests

Sheila is a Senior Lecturer in Allied Health. Her recent research has focussed on recruitment and retention of rural allied health practitioners, the cost of rural student placements and the distribution of the existing allied health workforce in NSW and Australia. As a practicing physiotherapist since 1981, Sheila is also a Neurologic Clinical Specialist with a focus in stroke rehabilitation with a clinical research interest in expanding the evidence base for effective treatment of spatial neglect syndrome. She also seeks to support service innovations such as Indigenous health promotion projects using art to learn about self management of chronic diseases and the introduction of certified Allied Health Assistants into the rural health workforce.
