Research interests
Slade's research is focussed on the effects of stress, heart disease and diabetes on heart rate variability, clinical factors affecting drug metabolism and disposition and computational techniques for non-clinical toxicity assessment. Machine learning algorithms and computational modelling, statistical analysis and analysis of heart rate variability are his key research techniques.
Teaching and supervision
Slade is the coordinator of the 3rd year course, Toxicology, and his teaching is focussed in the areas of non-clinical regulatory toxicology, pharmacokinetics and data analysis for detection of toxicity.
Awards and honours
Slade has two teaching awards for student-centred scholarly approach to teaching: the 2012 Sydney Medical School Award for Outstanding Teaching and the 2009 Coop Bookshop Excellence in teaching award.
