Biographical details

Dr. Srivalli Nagarajan joined the University of Sydney as Postdoctoral Research Associate in Work Integrated Learning in August 2012. She has more than 13 years experience as course coordinator and educator evidenced through effective management of curriculum, staffing and teaching resources at the Vocational and Higher Education levels.

She has been involved in cross-disciplinary teaching and research activities in IT, Engineering, Business and Education fields evidenced through her professional/academic experience, research interests and publications. Srivalli’s doctoral thesis investigated what the professional work experiences of recent Information Technology graduates in professional practice tell us about their university studies. It examined the role of universities, employers, professional associations and the graduates themselves in the preparation of IT graduates for the professional workplace. During her teaching career she has successfully managed a diverse group of students (young and adult domestic and international) across different qualification levels.

Some of the subjects she has taught include Project management, Computer Networking and Professional, Legal, Societal and Ethical issues for IT professionals. In her previous role at University of Western Sydney College Srivalli developed and implemented e-learning frameworks for the delivery of continuous professional development programs for industry based programs particularly for clients in the financial services industry. Srivalli has liaised with peak industry and professional bodies for ensuring curriculum alignment with industry needs.

In her current position, Srivalli is based at HammondCare’s Centre for Learning & Research in Palliative Care and the Northern Clinical School, Sydney Medical School, The University of Sydney. Srivalli is employed as the research fellow responsible for the research and evaluation of an Australian Government Department of Health, National Palliative Care Project titled: "The Advance Project. Initiating palliative care and advance care planning through training and resources for primary and chronic/complex care clinicians” www.caresearch.com.au/advance. This project is led by HammondCare in collaboration with the University of Sydney and other partner organisations.

Qualitative Research, work integrated learning, work readiness of university graduates, health professional education, palliative and supportive care sector and e-health.
