Trained in Medicine at the University of Sydney from 1975 to 1980, with an intercalated Bachelor of Medical Science research year in 1978.

Worked as an intern and resident at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and then trained in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the Royal North Shore Hospital, both in Sydney, Australia.

After completing the FRANZCR, undertook a year-long research fellowship in 1998 at the Contrast Media Lab at the Radiology Department of the University of California San Francisco, under Prof. Robert C. Brasch. Research was focussed on macromolecular and other novel gadolinium-based MRI contrast agents in experimental animal models.

From 1989 to 1997, held a staff specialist position at the Royal North Shore Hospital Radiology Department. During this period, developed interests in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention, breast screening and MRI, and interventional radiology.

Took up a position at the National University of Singapore in late 1997, initially as a Visiting Senior Fellow, and eventually as Associate Professor (1998) and then Head of Department in 2000.

Commenced as the foundation chair of Radiology at the University of Sydney, as the Parker-Hughes Professor of Radiology at the Western Clinical School at Westmead Hospital, in July 2008. [Hide detail]
