Biographical details

I completed my PhD in 2015 at the Australian National University. My PhD research focused on investigating the enzymology and molecular function of 5-methylcytosine (m5C) in RNA. During this time, I used transcriptome-wide bisulfite sequencing to detect m5C sites and the enzymes responsible for these sites in HeLa cells, and I helped develop a high-throughput sequencing technique for locus-specific detection of m5C sites in RNA. In 2016, I shifted my focus and joined the Embryology Unit at the Children's Medical Research Institute, headed by Prof. Patrick Tam, who is a pioneer in mouse embryo manipulation. In his lab, I am focusing on embryonic head formation.

Research interests

I am interested in embryonic head development and elucidating the gene regulatory network necessary for its development. To accomplish this, I am using chimeric embryos generated from genome-edited embryonic stem cells as well as high-throughput sequencing technologies.

Teaching and supervision

I am a lecturer for the Cells and Development: Theory (HSTO3003) course (Molecular Analysis of Early Development).
