Research interests
Professor Malhi has a longstanding interest in mood disorders in particular bipolar disorder and depression.
His research team based at the CADE Clinic (Royal North Shore Hospital) makes use of clinical and neuropsychological assessments in conjunction with neurobiological probes that range from electrophysiological measures to functional neuroimaging (fMRI and Spectroscopy) to investigate the neural basis of affective disorders.
He is also interested in pharmacological, psychological and alternative therapies and is currently examining the effects of meditation and CAMs.
