Sitting and Health research
The Sitting and Health Research Program is being conducted in collaboration with the University of Queensland and funded by an NHMRC Program Grant for the period from 2010 to 2014. The research program aims to undertake population health research to understand and influence sedentary behaviour and its influence on chronic disease. In 2010, the Sitting and Health Research Program conducted and published two systematic reviews on the relationship between occupational sitting time and health risks and on occupational interventions aimed at reducing sitting time during working hours. The research program also finished the data collection and analysis of the Occupational Moving and Sitting study and the Time Use Validation study, both of which aimed to more accurately assess self-reported sitting and sedentary time.
