Peer education programs for high school students
Triple A (Adolescent Asthma Action) and SALSA (Students As Lifestyle Activists) are peer-led programs based in high schools in Western Sydney.
These partnership programs involve The University of Sydney, high schools in Western Sydney and the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Both programs involve trained university students training peer leaders to teach younger students. The programs aim to build capacity and skills in the high school students and to strengthen relations between high schools and universities.
The Triple A program aims to educate students about asthma and reduce smoking and prevent smoking uptake in high school students, and the SALSA program aims to provide students with knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
