Within the pharmacoinformatics laboratory we use advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to generate new knowledge from biomedical data. We use SAS, SPSS, R, Graph Pad, and Excel to manipulate data and perform statistical analysis. We also use Weka, a suite of machine learning algorithms, to create models of biomedical relationships. Machine learning algorithms have the ability to model more complex relationships than traditional statistical techniques and hence give us the scope to discover previously unknown biological relationships.
