Dubbo: Home of the Western Plains Zoo

Dubbo is a comfortable 5.5 hour drive from Sydney, or a convenient 1 hour plane trip. Situated on the banks of the Macquarie River at the junction of three highways, it is home to around 40,000 people.

Dubbo is best known as the home of Taronga Western Plains Zoo but residents will tell you that its relaxed lifestyle is the town's best kept secret. Fortnightly Farmers' Markets, the Western Plains Cultural Centre and the newly built Dubbo Regional Theatre & Convention Centre are amongst the highlights.

Heading west, Dubbo is the last major centre before reaching the border town of Broken Hill; making it the commercial and community service hub for most of western NSW.

Dubbo has hot summers and relatively mild winters.

Orange: Australia's Colour City

Orange is a modern city with a rich mining past. It has become a popular 'foodie' destination and is well known for its locally grown produce, wineries and fine dining.

Orange is 3.5 hours west of Sydney and 3 hours north west of Canberra. It has a population of 38,000 and a diverse economy that has expanded from its traditional fruit-growing to include other primary production, manufacturing, mining and services.

Orange enjoys four distinct seasons. It has relatively mild summers and cold winters with occasional snow.
