Emergency Medicine Clinical Attachment
Dubbo Base Hospital's Emergency Department is a busy one. It caters for a large number of interventions that include paediatric and indigenous patients. Its Intensive Care Unit has twelve beds: four ICU, four Coronary Care and four High Dependency. There are three theatres, an additional endoscopy theatre, a large Recovery Ward and a Day Surgery.
Students also have access to Dubbo Private Hospital.
The Emergency Department is busy and treats all clinical presentations. There are specified clinical pathways for acute coronary and cerebral vascular events with support by modern imaging facilities. Senior staffing consists of local ED specialists, locum specialists and CMOs supported by the local physicians and surgeons.
Emergency Medicine attachments are available at our Dubbo and Orange campuses as part of a Critical Care Block. Your curriculum stream will determine whether you are allocated to this attachment.
