Colorectal Surgery Scholarship
The Medical School at the University of Sydney is offering a scholarship for suitably qualified candidates undertaking full-time study in the Master of Surgery (by coursework).
Eligibility:
- applicants must have been accepted into the Master of Surgery (by coursework)
- must undertake their research dissertation in the area of clinical colorectal surgery
- be either Australian citizens or permanent residents, or citizens of New Zealand
Value: $A25,000 for one year

Applicants should submit a letter to Associate Professor Michael Solomon of the Discipline of Surgery at the address below. The letter must contain the student’s name, contact details, appropriately certified academic transcripts for all degrees and proof of acceptance into the Master of Surgery (by coursework), and a one-page research proposal in the area described above. Proof of change of name is also necessary if any transcript is not in the applicant’s current name.

John Brooke Moore Scholarship in Surgery
Established from a bequest by Moira Brooke Moore in memory of her father Dr John Brooke Moore who practised surgery for many years in Bathurst, NSW.
Eligibility:
- Graduate of the University of Sydney
- Be accepted into the Master of Surgery (by coursework)
- Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents
Value: $A25,000, tenable for one year

John Loewenthal Scholarship
Established in 2008 by a gift from Professor John Wong to establish a postgraduate scholarship in surgery in memory of Professor Sir John Loewenthal.
Eligibility:
- be accepted into the Master of Surgery by coursework
- be either Australian citizens or permanent residents, or citizens of New Zealand or Hong Kong.
Value: $A20,000, tenable for one year.

Mitchell J Notaras Colorectal Fellowship
Fellowship awarded by the University in cooperation with the Training Board of Colorectal Surgery of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australasia to support clinical training in colorectal surgery both in Australia and in international colorectal units as well as offering training in colorectal research. Established in 2003 following a generous donation to the University of Sydney by Dr Mitchell J Notaras, a colorectal surgeon and graduate of the University.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must have been accepted into the provisional or post fellowship colorectal training program of the Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australasia and the RACS.
- must enrol full-time in the Master of Surgery (by coursework)
- Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents
