Tutor evaluation

The Medical Program Tutor Evaluation system allows students to give anonymous feedback on the performance of their tutors. At the end of each block of study, students are asked to provide feedback via a web-based form. This data is stored in a database, and tutors and their heads of department are provided with a summary of their feedback. The data gathered can also be used by the Medical School research on small-group processes. |
Problem evaluation

At the end of each problem throughout stages 1 and 2 of the Medical Program course a volunteer in each PBL group submits their group's combined feedback on the learning week. This is a web-based form that is built into the problem interface. The weekly problem evaluations are used by the Medical School in course revision, to improve the quality of our teaching materials on an ongoing basis. |
Feedback discussion

Students give feedback on specific components of the curriculum in the online categorised feedback forum. The feedback forum has been upgraded significantly in design and functionality. Students' individual posts are automatically sent to staff who have responsibility for each category (e.g., assessment, lectures). Designated staff reply to student postings. Following consultation with the student body, students are now identified by name and course year (previously students had been identified by Stage only). Privacy and informed consent statements have been added to permit use of deidentified comments in research on the medical education process. |
Survey tools
| In addition to our standard evaluation processes, we regularly send out web-based surveys on a range of issues, to both students and Medical Program members. We have created a tool that allows us to build an HTML form, and have a database table created automatically to store the responses to the survey. This allows for greater flexibility in the content and design of the surveys we build, with minimal database management from server administrators. |
