Academic excellence awards

Outstanding Teaching (including Early Career Awards), Excellence in Research Supervision, Support of the Student Experience (open to both academic and general staff) and Systems that Achieve Collective Excellence in Learning and Teaching

PLEASE NOTE:
The closing date for submission to Ria Deamer in the School Office (A27) is 31 May 2012.

Applications are invited for 2012 Sydney Medical School Awards for Outstanding Teaching, Excellence in Research Supervision, Support of the Student Experience and Systems that Achieve Collective Excellence in Learning and Teaching. The criteria for these awards are identical to those for the 2012 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Learning and Teaching. Applications for the Sydney Medical School awards must be submitted in exactly the same format as for the Vice-Chancellor’s awards. Details of criteria and how to apply for each category of award may be found at www.itl.usyd.edu.au/awards/vcawards.htm

Members of School (including all title holders) are strongly encouraged to apply. The same application may be submitted for the Sydney Medical School awards as was used for the Vice-Chancellor's University awards (which close at 5pm on 4 April 2012). (Members of School who are unable to prepare a submission in time for consideration for a Vice-Chancellor’s award this year may nevertheless wish to make a submission for a Sydney Medical School award this year and consider updating their submission for consideration for a 2013 Vice-Chancellor's award.)

Subject to applications being of sufficient quality, the Dean may make up to four awards to individual members of staff and/or groups. Recommendations for awards will be made by a committee chaired by the Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching). Successful applicants will be awarded an appropriate certificate together with the sum of $5,000. The awards will be presented at the 22 November 2012 meeting of the Faculty of Medicine.
