Using the University of Sydney logo
The University has guidelines and templates for stationery and business cards of University salaried and affiliated staff. Affiliate staff include conjoint appointees and other title holders who participate in the University’s activities in an honorary capacity. These guidelines are detailed below.

Stationery and business cards
Guidelines for stationery and business cards that you may use in your capacity as a University employee or affiliate. This does NOT include private practice notepaper. See (2) for guidelines on the use of private practice notepaper.
Salaried staff
Salaried staff and conjoint title holders should use the regular University stationery and business cards, where the University’s logo appears on the left hand side.

Salaried staff may not co-brand their stationery or business cards, unless they are also employees of a Local Health District (LHD) or a member of one of the following independent institutes:
- ANZAC Research Institute
- Centenary Institute of Cancer Medicine and Cell Biology
- Children’s Medical Research Institute
- George Institute for Global Health
- Heart Research Institute
- Melanoma Institute Australia
- Westmead Millennium Institute for Medical Research
- Woolcock Institute of Medical Research

Conjoint title holders
Conjoint title holders may wish to have co-branded business cards or stationery. If they use the University stationery, they can include the logo of their substantive employer (commonly LHD or independent research institute) on the right.

If they are using the business cards or stationery of their substantive employer, they may use their academic title and incorporate the University of Sydney logo on the right hand side.

In the case of business cards, conjoint title holders may wish to have double sided cards, one side displaying their substantive employment affiliation and the other their University affiliation.
Clinical, research, adjunct and honorary title holders
Clinical, research, adjunct and honorary title holders may include the University logo on non-University stationery (with the exception of private practice notepaper) if:
i) the stationery is that of a Local Health District (LHD) or that of one of the following independent institutes:
- ANZAC Research Institute
- Centenary Institute of Cancer Medicine and Cell Biology
- Children’s Medical Research Institute
- George Institute for Global Health
- Heart Research Institute
- Melanoma Institute Australia
- Westmead Millennium Institute for Medical Research
- Woolcock Institute of Medical Research
The use of the University logo on any other stationery is not permitted.
ii) their relationship to the University is clear, i.e. it is evident that the University is not the employer
iii) their affiliation is correctly represented and their correct title is included, e.g. Clinical Associate Professor (and not Associate Professor or A/Professor or just Professor)

Private practice notepaper
PRIVATE PRACTICE NOTEPAPER – PLEASE NOTE: The use of the University logo on private practice notepaper requires the approval of the Dean.
Salaried staff and conjoint title holders may include the University logo on their private practice notepaper but only under the following circumstances:
i) the notepaper includes the individual’s provider number and a statement to the effect that any communication made on that paper is not made in the capacity as an employee or affiliate of the University
ii) their affiliation with the University is correctly represented and the individual’s correct title is included on the notepaper
iii) the private practice notepaper of salaried and affiliate staff using the University logo has been approved by the Dean. Contact Ria Deamer for information and approvals.

Title holders (e.g. clinical academic) are not permitted to use the University logo on their private practice notepaper but may refer to their University title provided they include a statement to the effect that any communication made on that paper is not made in the capacity of an affiliate of the University, and provided they use their title correctly, e.g. Clinical Associate Professor and not A/Professor.

Notes
(1) Within the University, Professors (including some conjoint Professors) appointed to established Chairs may have titles in the form of “Professor of Discipline”. Clinical, Adjunct and Honorary Professors, however, hold the title simply of “Clinical Professor”, “Adjunct Professor” or “Honorary Professor” without any descriptor.
(2) Persons who have been appointed to positions of or have been awarded the titles of Principal Research Fellow and Senior Principal Research Fellow may us the personal titles of Associate Professor and Professor respectively.
