Academic profile pages

Each academic in the Sydney Medical School has a profile page which is automatically generated using available data sourced from various databases; some maintained by the Medical School, some from other sources. This page has your contact details, your publications, your current nationally and internationally competitive grants and a link to any opportunities your have listed on Research Supervisor Connect. You can add to this information with a photograph, a statement of your research interests, the research themes you have chosen, and your international collaborations

To edit your individual page use the "Profile tools" to the right of the screen:

  • Login using your Medical School login follow the "Update your profile" link and chose "Academic profile" from the options on the left of the screen
  • You can also update your research themes and keywords and your international collaborations from the “Profile tools” on your profile page

Research Publications Collection (RPC)

For all members of the Sydney Medical School, the Research Publications Collection (RPC) database harvests publications from PubMed (Medline) and collects them for reporting as part of the University’s HERDC reporting requirements

When RPC identifies a publication which it thinks might be yours you will receive an email asking you to check and, if it is yours, complete some details about the other authors if you are able. If the publication is not yours, deny authorship and it will be removed from your records

Funding opportunities

Sydney Medical School offers funding to faculty members through a number of internal schemes as well as assistance and advice on accessing funding from external bodies

Information on these schemes is circulated through the Medical School mailing list* and is listed on the website of the Office of Research and Research Training. Check this site regularly for up-to-date information

Higher research degree supervision

If you wish to recruit your own PhD students you must be registered with the Postgraduate Student Administration Unit and have received some training in student supervision. This unit manages the candidature of student in the Faculties of Dentistry and Pharmacy as well as Sydney Medical School.

Research Supervisor Connect

This is a University wide application which allows you to advertise Masters and PhD opportunities that you have in your laboratory. The Research Supervisor Connect website assists prospective research students to search for a supervisor and project
