Early Career Researchers

The Sydney Medical School has a commitment to support and develop the careers of staff who have recently been awarded their PhD. Focused career support during this period has been identified as important for staff themselves, and as a contributing factor towards retaining the best clinicians, researchers and teachers.

The Sydney Medical School identifies Early Career Researchers (ECRs) as those awarded their PhD within the past 10 year period (corrected for absences due to illness, misadventure or family responsibilities). The Sydney Medical School ECR support initiative aims to provide: opportunities for ECRs to engage with fellow ECRs through networking and conference events; notification of ECR-targeted research and travel grant schemes and research development workshops; and tailored career advice.
