The Sexually Transmitted Infections Research Centre (STIRC) is an internationally renowned research and teaching centre within the University of Sydney specialising in infectious disease aspects of sexual health. Our teaching courses on sexually transmitted infections and HIV are taken by a wide range of doctors, other healthcare workers, laboratory scientists and public health practitioners. We foster an active research environment targeting a number of important areas, including sexually transmitted infectious diseases, immunological responses to STIs, anogenital cancers, novel diagnostic technologies and health service delivery issues.
Students come from a wide range of backgrounds and countries, helping us build a thriving and stimulating academic community.
