General Practice and Primary Health Care



The Discipline of General Practice at the Sydney Medical School is developing a new Master of Medicine and Master of Science in Medicine (General Practice and Primary Health Care) which will commence in 2019. The Master of Medicine is designed for general practitioners, doctors training for general practice and those thinking of a career in primary health care. The Master of Science in Medicine is designed for allied health professionals, nurses and pharmacists who work in primary health care.

To meet the diverse needs of practitioners in general practice and primary health care the course structure will allow students to select from a wide range of units of study, such as dermatology, diabetes and metabolic health, paediatrics, internal medicine sub-specialties, mental health, public health and clinical teaching. For a list of units of study available in each course please select one of the following:


Largely taught online using a case based approach, some units of study include an intensive face to face teaching session. Students can study at Master’s, Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate level. The Master’s courses will be available part time in 2019 and fulltime from 2020.
