VELiM’s research, teaching programs and community services depend on continuing financial support.
While much of our research is funded by competitive grants, the support provided by donors has enabled us to conduct research that is sometimes difficult to fund in this way, for example, research into the experiences of people being treated for cancer and leukaemia.
The generosity of donors has also enabled us to
- purchase computer equipment for researchers
- provide scholarships for young researchers
- expand our library
- develop educational materials for health professionals, researchers and people living with cancer, and
- run seminars on a range of issues including clinical ethics, disability, qualitative research, human rights and surviving after serious illness.
Donations of money are always welcome. We also gratefully receive other forms of support such as donations to the library, advertising, marketing advice and services. We also welcome volunteers who can offer time and skills appropriate to the activities of VELiM.
