About the Workforce Education and Development Group

Group of people gathered around a computer monitor.

WEDG is a Sydney Medical School based team dedicated to improving the uptake of evidence-based care into practice. We work at the nexus between quality, education and service improvement.

Led by Associate Professor Tim Shaw WEDG is at the forefront of the emerging field of Implementation Science and our primary research emphasis is on educating healthcare professionals to implement new learnings and innovations into practice with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

With a number of high profile grants and consultancies totalling over $10M we aspire to be recognised as a global leader in Implementation Science.

WEDG works closely with a wide range of organisations both nationally and internationally including government departments, health service providers, professional colleges and translational research centres.

Our focus has traditionally been on developing and delivering innovative, research-led models for teaching and learning in professional health education but increasingly we investigate how education and other interventions are integrated into effective and locally relevant implementation programs.
