Dr Charles Chung
Charles Chung is the Data Manager at STIRC. He received the BSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Sydney in 1982 and 1986 respectively.
Before joining STIRC in October 2003, he was a senior computer scientist at CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences from 1986 to 2003. His previous research interests were knowledge-based expert systems, computer human interaction, and computer performance evaluations.
His current research interests are database and user interface design for clinical information systems such as the AIN (Anal intraepithelial neoplasia) cytology and histology database at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.
His role includes the maintenance of existing databases at STIRC, the SHIPS database at the Parramatta Sexual Health Clinic (PSHC) and establishing new research databases.
He also maintains the STIRC computers and networks with assistance from the ICPMR Pathology Applications Services.
