Adrian Mindel is the Professor of Sexual Health Medicine at the University of Sydney and the Director of the Sexually Transmitted Infections Research Centre (STIRC) based at Westmead Hospital. He is a Member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on AIDS Strategy - NSW Health Department, and Chairman of the Australian Herpes Management Forum.

Adrian's research expertise includes the epidemiology, public health importance, diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), in particular the viral STIs including Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection and Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection; the use of barrier contraception (in particular condoms) for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs); the interaction between HIV and STIs; the social and political impact of sexually transmitted infections, service delivery for STIs and HIV; the use of the Internet and social media for STI research and the development and use of vaccines for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
Adrian has worked in the area of STIs and HIV for over 30 years. He has also written or co-authored over 110 peer-reviewed manuscripts and numerous book chapters, editorials and other miscellaneous publications. In addition, he has written or edited several books. He is on the editorial board of several international journals.
