Dr Shailendra Sawleshwarkar

Lecturer & Course Coordinator

Dr Shailendra Sawleshwarkar (MB BS, MD, DNB, DDV) works as a lecturer at STIRC and is the Course coordinator for the Masters Program in Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV (STD/HIV) at the University of Sydney.

Shailendra trained in Medicine and completed his MD at the University of Mumbai He later joined Grant Medical College as a Lecturer. He also completed the Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies from the University of Sydney.

He has attended and presented papers at many Regional, National & International conferences on HIV and STIs.

Shailendra is interested in the capacity building through development of innovative educational approaches. He is working with a multidisciplinary team at the University of Sydney and coordinates ‘Short Professional Program in STIs and HIV’. His current research interests include management of HIV/STIs in Primary care and STIs in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations in Australia. Currently he has collaborations with Zambia, Botswana, South Africa and India.
