Soimart (or Toey) has been a lecturer at the Department of Community Development, Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand since 2007. Prior to that, she was a project assistant at UNESCO and UNDP Thailand and involved in the projects “Indigenous People in the Protected Areas in the Andaman Sea” and “Mobility and HIV/AIDS Vulnerability in Mekong Sub-region”. Soimart commenced her PhD program at the School of Geosciences, University of Sydney in July 2009. Her research will focus on the challenges of rural communities to sustain their natural resources and livelihoods in the context of development in the Greater Mekong Sub-region.
