Project Status

The University of Sydney have appointed a head contractor (FDC Construction & fitouts) through a competitive tender process for the design and construction of the Chau Chak Wing Museum.
The lead consultant is Architect Johnson Pilton Walker (JPW) and they have been retained by the contractor to complete and co-ordinate all design related works.
FDC Construction have commenced with site mobilisation and site establishment. It anticipated to commence construction phase in June 2018.

The University have appointed Ellen Wayland the Precinct Delivery Manager, Kate Bimson the Project Director and Christopher Burns the Project Manager. It is anticipated that practical completion of the Museum building will be achieved during Q1 2020 with an opening expected mid 2020, after University Museums have completed their curating and fit-out of exhibition displays.

A complaint and enquiries procedure has been implemented, and will be maintained for the duration of the construction project; including the below measures:

  • A toll-free 24 hour telephone number on which a complaint or enquiries about the carrying out of any works can be registered.
  • A Postal address to which written complaints and enquiries may be sent; and
  • An email address to which electronic complaints and enquiries may be transmitted
