| Description |
Broken and restored complete, except for some chips on the rim. Short offset flaring lip and low ring foot. Hard-fired clay with a few small white inclusions. Light pinkish brown core (5YR 7/4) with a brownish surface (7.5YR 7/4). The paint on the lip, handles and
lower body ranges from brownish black (7.5YR 2/2) to a lighter shade (2.5YR 5/6); the semicircles are yellowish-brown (7.5YR 6/6). On the exterior, two intersecting sets of 11 semicircles in the reserved handle-zone on each side of the vase; the
interior is painted, except for a reserved band on the lip. Kearsley's Type 4, and probably of Euboean manufacture. |
