Our Education Officers and Guides

The education officers you may meet when visiting University Museums are all qualified specialists in their fields. Our guides are directly involved in current research and field projects in a diverse range of subjects. Each is able to demonstrate relevance between class activities and professional museum research. All are dynamic presenters, with considerable teaching experience and knowledge of syllabuses, and can offer insight into university life.

Other education officers have a background in biology, like Hedy
Starita, who brings her expertise to the Macleay collection. Amanda Dusting has a background in painting and film media which she brings to the art collection. Lita Diacopoulos has taught with the program for many years and is an expert on museum education. Nicholson Museum guides like Fran Keeling, Syd Evans, Mel Kennedy and Hugh Thomas have a wealth of archaeological experience as a result of their excavations in Greece, Jordan, Cyprus, Italy (including Pompeii), Egypt, Angkor
and here in Australia.
