Chartres - Lloyd Rees
This stunning exhibition of paintings and drawings showcases works from a series Rees worked on depicting the great Gothic cathedral at Chartres in France. Covering a ten-year period between 1967 and 1977, the works highlight Rees's concerns with light and dark colour as well as his interests in architecture and the spirit.
Lloyd Rees (1895-1988) is one of Australia's most highly regarded artists. he had a long standing association with the University of Sydney as a lecturer in painting and drawing in the School of Architecture from 1946-86.
