The Victorian era (1837 - 1901) refers to the period of Queen Victoria's rule and has also come to define a period of distinct sensibilities and political concerns.
New Victorians was an exhibition of contemporary artists who engage with and evoke the Victorian era through imagery, materials and processe. The artists challenge conventional notions of modernity and reveal a wealth of creative possibilities contained within an era that continues to fascinate. The exhibition explored the ways in which the Victorian legacy has inspired and haunted succeeding generations.
