Dr Tony Gill

False midnight dottyback, Manonichthys winterbottomi Gill, 2004 (painting by A.C. Gill).
Dr Gill’s research interests are mostly in fish taxonomy: in the anatomy and classification of acanthomorph (spiny-finned) fishes - particularly percoids (perches and their relatives) and gobioids (gobies and gudgeons) - and taxonomy and historical biogeography of Indo-Pacific fishes - particularly of the Pseudochromidae (dottybacks). He is also interested in the history of natural history collections, particularly as it pertains to the works of Sir William John Macleay and his collaborators.
