There are many ways in which you can get involved with the University’s museums and collections. As a volunteer you can work alongside staff in:
- preparing exhibitions
- welcoming visitors
- conducting tours
- assisting in documenting the collection
- fundraising and assisting with public programs.

Join the Friends of the Nicholson Museum
By joining the Friends of the Nicholson Museum, you will support the museum and keep up to date with what's happening.
You will receive our award-winning magazine MUSE, published three times a year.
You will also be invited to special Friends-only events.

Sydney University Museums offers a limited number of work experience placements to school students throughout the year. Students work with the Public Programs team, gaining experience in a variety of areas including:
- arts administration
- public programs and events in museums;
- with special emphasis on Archaeology, Ancient History and Classics, Anthropology, Art History and Museums.
Placements are open to secondary school students in Year 10, and are for three days' duration.
If you are interested in being considered for a place, please contact the Public Programs Assistant (see below) at Sydney University Museums with your resume and a short cover letter that explains your interest in a placement in our program.
