Endowments: Chairs of Units
By endowing or helping to endow a unit’s Chair, you will ensure that the Conservatorium will always be financially able to offer students the highest standard of musical education in their chosen area.
The Conservatorium is seeking to establish an endowment fund to give permanent support to a Professorial Chair in each of the teaching and research units - strings, keyboard, vocal and operatic studies, percussion, woodwind, brass, jazz studies and chamber music - integrating them through cross-disciplinary linkages in performance and research.
By establishing strong and independently funded study units underpinned by endowed Chairs, The Con can sit squarely on the international stage as a global centre of excellence in music, providing leading edge education, research and performance.
The current cost of endowing a Professorial Chair is $4 million. Each year, 5% of the principal fund is made available to support the activities of the Chair.
Annual earnings above 5% are reinvested to maintain the fund's value in real terms after inflation.
