Biographical details

Stephen Yalouris graduated with Merit from The Sydney Conservatorium of Music and was subsequently awarded the Sydney de Vries Vocal Scholarship and the Goethe Institute’s Arts German Scholarship for the study of German in Germany. He later graduated from The University of New South Wales with a Master of Music degree.

Stephen has performed widely in Opera, oratorio, concert and lieder/song recital in Sydney and throughout New South Wales and interstate. He has appeared with the Seymour Group, Canberra Opera, The Lyric Opera of Queensland (now Opera Queensland), Opera Australia, The West Australian Youth Orchestra and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He served on the Music Board of Opera Foundation Australia for over 10 years and later was Chairman of the Music Board and an Opera Foundation Australia Director.

Stephen has had over 30 years teaching experience, teaching undergraduate and graduate voice students vocal technique, repertoire and performance. Successful students include finalists and winners of major singing competitions and those who have gained successful entry to international music institutions for post graduate studies or who are now singing professionally in Australia and overseas.

Stephen Yalouris has been both part time and full time Lecturer in voice (1988-1995) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and since 2004 has been a member of the academic part time staff of the Vocal and Opera Studies Unit.
