Zaki Chehab to visit Sydney

One of the Arab world’s leading journalists, Zaki Chehab, author of the new book  Iraq Ablaze – Inside the Insurgency, will give a public lecture at the University of Sydney on Thursday February 23, 2006.

Zaki Chehab will speak at a special forum hosted by the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPACS) at the University of Sydney.

 Iraq Ablaze, published in December 2005, is an account of the Iraqi resistance and the insurgency from the perspective of a journalist who was embedded with the insurgents. 

Zaki Chehab is political editor of the London-based Al Hayat Arabic newspaper and the Arabic TV channel LBC.

For more than 25 years he has covered Middle Eastern conflicts for local and Western media, including The Guardian, CNN, Channel 4 and the BBC.

His Sydney tour is sponsored by the Sydney Peace and Justice Coalition and publishers Palgrave Macmillan.
