Jiang casts long shadow over Beijing

Professor Kerry Brown, Executive Director of the China Studies Centre, commented to today's Australian Financial Review on the continuing power of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
"He was the archetypal technocrat, a Soviet-educated engineer," Professor Brown says. "The view was that he was a bit of a lightweight but over the 12 to 13 years he was in power, he proved himself. His influence wasn't negligible."
