Graeme Smith and UNDP China project
17 March 2014
Graeme Smith has just returned from Papua New Guinea, where he was team leader for a UNDP China project looking at the prospects for aid cooperation with China in the Pacific, working with local and Chinese researchers. This is the first time researchers from the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (the research arm of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce) have collaborated with non-Chinese researchers in an overseas research partnership. The project, which also covers Tonga and Samoa, will make recommendations on how Australia and China can better meet the development needs of Pacific nations.
