CSC Call for Academics on China's Urban Sustainability Project

31 August 2011

There would appear to be opportunities for Australian firms as a result of China's 12th Five Year Plan (FYP), particularly those arising from the construction of sustainable cities, given the rapid rate of urbanisation and China's green policy priorities.

The China Studies Centre proposes to establish a task force of academics and Australian industry interests to examine the policy settings and related issues, and to identify markets and specific opportunities in China.

This process will proceed in two stages. The first will be to identify academics wishing to be involved at the University of Sydney. The second will be to then invite Australian industrialists to become involved in the China Urban Sustainability Taskforce. A number of industry partners have already indicated interest.
