The speakers, novelist and translator Linda Jaivin and the director of the China Studies Centre Professor Luigi Tomba, shared their decades of experience in translating Chinese materials, from films, interviews, articles to books and official documents for their research and writing.

Doing fieldwork in China can be an eye-opening experience, but without sufficient consideration of the particular political, social and cultural environment, it can be a daunting task. This event presented examples from experienced fieldworkers, to research students and early-career researchers who planned to conduct fieldwork in China.
