Centenary Research Symposium

The Faculty's annual Research Symposium held on Friday 4 June 2010 attracted more than 260 people from across industry, Faculty alumni, current and staff and students. Held in the McLaurin Hall, the Symposium celebrated the Faculty's Centenary, including an historical perspective showcasing research successes over the last 100 years. Speakers included internationally renowned researchers, Dr Per Pinstrup-Andersen and Dr Pedro Sanchez who also gave lectures as part of the Sydney Ideas program. The Great Debate: Agriculture can feed the world in the 21st Century was moderated by ABC journalist, Ticky Fullerton and was won by the negative team despite pre-debate polling suggesting that the positive team would win.
The Dean, Professor Mark Adams also launched the Faculty's latest publication, GR2: A Green Resolution - the Faculty's issues paper addressing the vision required for the next phase of thinking following the Green Revolution movement of the 1970's that helped feed the world.
