Students offered a chance to study at UCLA

17 April 2013

The United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney is thrilled to once again offer Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences students an unprecedented opportunity to study at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) during this year's winter break.

Twenty-one students from the faculty participated in the inaugural program last year, including combined Bachelor of Arts student, Cassidy Loane.

"The UCLA program was the best experience of my life and it introduced me to a new world of opportunities," she said.

"Attending UCLA is everything you imagine an American college experience to be and more. It truly will be the best thing you do at university. This program allowed me to fulfill my dream of studying in the US while developing strong, lasting friendships with my Sydney cohort and international students.

"I have developed lifelong connections in America that will aide in my future plans of working and living in the US. Anything can happen in Los Angeles, it's truly a city of dreams!"

UCLA is one of the world's most prestigious universities, placed 13th in the latest Times Higher Education rankings.

Students from the faculty can apply to study and live on UCLA's Californian campus during the Australian June-July holiday period. In doing so, students will gain 12 credit points towards their University of Sydney degree, as well as benefit from the experience of US college life.

There will be an information session about the UCLA study abroad program between 12 and 1pm on April 24 in the New Law Lecture Theatre 101.
