Farewell to some long serving staff

20 December 2005

The end of 2005 will see some long serving members of the department moving on to face new challenges in the future.

Dr Martin Liu has been a post-doctoral researcher in the Centre for Geotechnical Research for the last 10 years involved very heavily in computational methods and constitutive modelling.

Ms Kim Pham has worked in our Drawing Office for 15 years, starting as a tracer and then as technology accelerated expanding her skills to creating many of the electronic drawings that have appeared in the Department's research publications.

Mr George Slack has been the Executive Officer of the Civil Engineering Foundation for the last 10 years, and raised the profile of the Foundation withn the Civil Engineering community.

Prof John Carter has been an inspirational leader and researcher and has been associated with The University of Sydney for 30 years. A list of John's papers, research grants and industry and university services would run to many pages. John will take up the position of Pro Vice Chancellor at The University of Newcastle.

We wish all our departing colleagues the best for the future.
